Dear Friends

Firstly, apologies to Cyril Ley.  Don't know why I spelt his name Lee, I've known him long enough.  I remember my first game against his, about thirty years ago in the Police Club in Bridgend.  For some reason that night I decided that the easiest way to beat him was to try and drink him under the table.  Didn't turn out to be a very good idea.

Secondly, James Sherwin has informed me he was equal third at Kidlington with 3.5 out of 5, which goes to show how good Cyril's performance was.  It must have been some tournament.  Thanks for the info, James.

I've had four emails regarding the prizemoney at the welsh Ladies.  The comment from Paul Kelly at mindsports is typical:

Shame on the Welsh Chess Union for such derisory prize money.

Next issue Saturday or Sunday.

Very Best Wishes
